As a senior advisor at Three Cairns Group, Mary brings nearly twenty years of New York City and New York State government and non-profit experience as a dedicated advocate for climate action and clean energy. In her most recent role as State Director for New York and New Jersey at Environmental Defense Fund, she spearheaded initiatives to advance science-based climate policies. Mary collaborated with government agencies, legislators, regulators and stakeholders to drive the electrification of trucks and buses and the decarbonization of natural gas distribution systems.

As a leading member of a coalition in New York City, Mary advocated for the implementation of Congestion Pricing, a first-in-the-nation program aimed at reducing traffic, expanding mass transit and curbing air pollution, including greenhouse gases.

Mary’s expertise lies in coordinating, designing and leading policy campaigns and projects targeting support from local and state decision-makers. Notable campaigns include NYC Clean Heat, which successfully phased out the use of the dirtiest heating fuels, leading to the cleanest air quality in fifty years in New York City. Additionally, Mary played a pivotal role in the passage of the New Jersey Clean Energy Act of 2018.
