Steve Strongin

Senior Advisor for Climate

Steve applies more than four decades in economics, monetary policy and financial strategy to guide Three Cairns Group’s initiatives as a Senior Advisor for Climate.

During almost 30 years at Goldman Sachs, Steve rose from Global Head of Strategy Research to Head of Global Investment Research to Senior Advisor and Senior Director – applying his investment and leadership expertise to increasingly complex challenges. Prior his time at Goldman Sachs, Steve spent 12 years serving as the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago’s Director of Monetary Policy Research, and two years as an economist at the Center for the Study of Economy and State at the University of Chicago.

Steve has a long list of economic publications to his name – along with three patents – and has been featured in news outlets including The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg News, and Business Insider. Today, Steve is an Advisory Council Member for the Becker Friedman Institute for Economics at the University of Chicago, and a Distinguished Visiting Professor at the Pardee RAND Graduate School. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Chicago, and his Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University.

Steve joined Three Cairns Group because it speaks to his combined passions for sustainability and finance, and allows him to apply his 40 years of investment experience to the existential challenge of our time.
