Vivien Labaton
Managing Director of Giving and Impact
Vivien has spent the last several decades working at the intersection of philanthropy, advocacy, and social change – bringing her legal background to bear in areas from civic engagement and democracy reform to gender and racial equity.
Before coming to Three Cairns Group, Vivien served as Chief Policy Advisor at JS Capital Management where she advised on philanthropic and political giving designed to strengthen democracy. Her previous work in philanthropy includes serving as Director of Strategic Initiatives at the Atlantic Philanthropies, where she created and oversaw the foundation’s first-ever multi-million dollar grant-making program to advance civic engagement and organizing, and supported research and advocacy efforts on a range of policy issues.
Vivien has advocated on behalf of women and families as an attorney at the Center for Reproductive Rights and as a co-founder of Make It Work, an award-winning national three-year campaign to build support for issues including affordable child care, paid family leave, and equal pay.
Vivien holds a bachelor’s degree from Barnard College and a law degree NYU School of Law. She clerked for the Hon. Constance Baker Motley in the Southern District of New York.
